  • Time: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Reason: Road work / paving operations
  • Duration: Proposed one-day closure

Please use alternate routes and plan for possible delays during the closure period.

We ask for cooperation and patience from the traveling public during this time. 

Please note that this list may not include every road closure in the county. Our crews are actively working to address as many areas as possible to keep roads open.

Seasonal Summer Help

The Manistee County Road Commission will accept applications from qualified individuals for SEASONAL Summer Help with other duties as assigned.  These positions will be for up to an 89 working days period (approximately June 1, 2026 through September 24, 2026 subject to actual days worked) consisting of up to 40 hours per week. Overtime may be worked on an as-needed basis.  Seasonal employees are not eligible for benefits. 

Applicants must possess an excellent driving record and able to pass new hire and random drug and alcohol screens.

Duties for this position include but are not limited to - Flagging, manually patching blacktop, cutting brush, using hand tools and power tools.

Individuals may apply for this position by submitting a filled in Manistee County Road Commission Employment Application on or before Thursday, May 14, 2026 to the attention of Brad Lakso, Supervisor, Manistee County Road Commission, 8946 Chippewa Highway, Bear Lake, MI 49614 (between the hours of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM Monday thru Thursday) or emailed to [email protected].  Employment Applications will be received until the positions are filled.

Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license. Only candidates that submit a complete, signed, and dated Employment Application will be considered for the positions.
