Our Mission Statement The mission of the Commission is to enhance the social and economic quality of life of our community by providing and maintaining, consistent with financial resources available to the Commission, a safe and efficient system of county roads and streets for the citizens of Manistee County and to continuously strive to improve the quality of the service we deliver.  


The Manistee/Eastlake area Small Urban Task Force will hold a public meeting starting at 10:00 AM Monday January 21, 2019 at the Manistee County Road Commission (8946 Chippewa Hwy, Bear Lake, MI 49614) to program federal-aid eligible transportation projects for 2021 and 2023 in accordance with the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST Act) legislation.

2018-2019 Winter Snow Report

1/17/19   7:00 a.m.

Approximate Snow fall to date =  32 in.

Approximate Snowfall last winter on same date =  112 in.


The Coates Highway over Big Manistee River Bridge Replacement project (Red Bridge) is substantially completed and the bridge was opened to thru traffic on October 19, 2018.



It will be closing again in the spring for more maintenance work.
